The wedding extravaganza... PICTURES!!!

Day 1: Thursday, Rehearsal Dinner
Location: Emily's Parents House, Minnetonka, MN

For our rehearsal dinner the wedding party, and their significant others, headed over to my parent's house for some food (Famous Dave's), fun, and sun!

Day 2: Friday, Grooms Dinner
Location: HHH Metrodome, Minneapolis, MN

We were lucky enough to be able to take the wedding party, along with the family that had come in town, to a Minnesota Twins game. Thanks to Mike's parents we were able to take 48 of our closest friends and family to the game and were able to sit in the home run porch. We had so much fun. We also want to thank Matt, mike's brother, for taking such great pictures of the rehearsal and groom's dinners. If it wasn't for you we wouldn't have any pics from these events. Too bad we didn't get you in any of the pictures! If any of my family took any let me know so I can include all of you in the pics as well!

Day 3: Wedding
Locations: Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park, MN & International Market Square in Minneapolis, MN

We don't have any of these pics yet, but will post some when we get them. I do want to thank all of our family for coming to celebrate our marriage, and to my maid of honor, Bree, who did a GREAT job, I couldn't have made it through without her, Mike and my Mom. A special thanks to my parents for making much of this weekend possible, we really couldn't have done it without you!

Day 4: Sunday Brunch
Location: Mike and Emily's house, Eden Prairie, MN

We don't have many pics from this event, but here is what we have. It was so nice to see everyone one last time before they headed out of town.

Wedding, 07/19/2008

We are married, finally! Its crazy that this day finally came and is sad how fast it went. We had a busy wedding week with people coming into town the Tues before and leaving the Sunday after. We thought we would be peopled out by the end of the week, but were surprised to find out just how much we missed everyone being there. The week of our wedding went so well, we were so lucky. Thank you to everyone who was able to be a part of our wedding week, especially the wedding party who helped us so much throughout the week. Our wedding went perfectly and we are finding ourselves wishing that it could have lasted longer. Now its back to real life. Neither of us had enough vacation to take a honeymoon right away so it will have to wait until this winter. So its back to reality, oh well!!! We will make sure to post some more pics and our video when they become available.

Bridal Shower, 06/29/08

Today was my bridal shower and it was a blast. It was so nice to see everyone again and I was surprised to see how far people drove to be there. We played many fun games including a 'how well do you know emily?' and 'make a wedding dress out of toilet paper' game. Here are the pictures from the event.

Invites

Last Friday I finally received my invitations and rushed to get them out before the postage increase. It was such a relief to get them out and now I get to patiently wait to see who will accept and who will reject. The only bummer is that we put my parents address as the return address so I have to either stop by their house or call daily to see if we have any mail (you can click on the images to make them easier to see/read)

Our Babies... Motor and Cade

Since I haven't posted any pics of our babies I thought this would be a good time to do so. As you can tell they are adjusting well!

Building a House.... Moving in

So, these pictures are mainly for our family, but, if any of you are curious feel free to take a look. Between picasa and me not putting the camera on the right setting the pictures got a little dark, but it will give you an idea of what the house looks like. Keep in mind that we really haven't decorated yet, we need a few things like pillows for our bed, towels, a coffee table/end tables, etc and things look a little different in real life. Hopefully we will get some of these items for our wedding and will be able to post some new pictures in 6 months when things look better. We also hope to have enough money after the wedding to purchase a bedroom set to make our bedroom look more complete...then we can move the existing furniture (dresser and night stand) into our downstairs bedroom and things will look much better!

Memories

For those of you who don't know, last fall we sold our townhouse and moved in with my parents while our new home was being built. This meant that we were frantically packing things to go into storage to make our townhouse seem more spacious. When we moved into our new house we were shocked at some of the stuff we had packed away, we could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble if we had only sorted through it and thrown/gave it away. It has been aggravating trying to find the perfect spot for all of our stuff and trying not to just throw things in a closet to get it temporarily put away. The only fun part of all of the unpacking has been finding all of the ticket stubs, pictures, notes, sentimental crap, etc. that we saved. One thing I came across was my bid day page from Kappa. It brought back so many memories (and is amusing to me, click on them to enlarge and read them) so I thought I would post it and share it will all of you.

Registering

So, as many of you already know, our wedding is just around the corner. One thing I have always loved about weddings is being able to print out the couples registries and ponder over what gift I should get. Needless to say I have been a little bit anxious to go and create OUR gift registries. Last weekend I finally got the chance. Although I still like picking out gifts for others better, it was still a lot of fun to scan things to our hearts content. We had the chance to register for things we need and those things we would never get around to buying for ourselves. It was a lot of fun on a very wet and rainy weekend. I was also able to check off another item on my list of things to do for the wedding, yay!

Sorry for the lack of postings lately, I have been so busy with the move it has been hard to put anything together. I promise I will get an update together within the next few days, hopefully with some pictures of the progress we have made.

Check, Check, and Check!

The last two weeks have been a little chaotic, but in a good way. We accomplished a lot and things are finally slowing down a little bit. We were able to meet with our wedding planner and the person creating our invitations and decided what the invites and other paper products should look like. We set up a taste testing with our caterer and booked our limo (a red 1957 Chevy limo with white interior!). We also bought a table and chairs, king and twin mattresses, a living room set, a washer and dryer, and blinds for the new house. Very exciting! I will get tons of pictures up when the house is finished and once we move in. It has been hard to take pictures of all of the changes going on since we didn't have lighting until recently and the floors and countertops are covered up. Even with all that we have accomplished there is still so much to do. I am so excited to get the move behind us and get settled so all we have to worry about is the wedding.

Building a house update, 2/23

We went by our house today and there was a lot of progress made. The walls inside are pretty much ready for  trimming and paint, some of our cabinets went in, and some trimming had already been done. Outside all of the siding is done as well as the brick, all thats left is the shakes! It is a very exciting time with the house and wedding, we definitely can't wait to close the end of March.

Scrubbing in for the first time...

So, Friday I was paired up with my preceptor to start working in the OR. We originally had a full schedule, but when we came to work on Friday all of our original cases had been cancelled and our new case didn't start until 2:30 pm (I started at 6:45 am). Since there was nothing for us to do in the morning my preceptor took me down to one of the heart rooms so that I could watch an aortic valve replacement. Originally I was just going to observe from the back, but ended up being able to scrub in. Scrubbing in allowed me to be sterile so that I could stand right next to the surgeon and see the surgery up close. I was even allowed to touch the beating heart, feel the aorta and the thrill in the aorta from the bad valve, and then how the aorta felt after the new valve was in place. It was crazy!!! It was so cool, I couldn't believe I was actually touching a beating heart! I LOVE my job.

Fairview Southdale

As most of you know I started my job on February 4, 2008. I LOVE my new job. The first week was spent doing general orientation for the hospital, but last week I was finally able to step foot into the OR. Fairview Southdale's whole operating room was redone about a year ago and is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone has been super nice and I am so excited to be working there. It was also nice to be able to start with another RN, Briana. She is great and we have been having so much fun orienting to the unit. As part of our orientation, our educator had a write up a blurb about ourselves and took pictures of us to put in the department newsletter. The picture to the left is the wonderful picture that was taken of me. When I showed it to my dad he thought I looked like a cafeteria worker with my hairnet. It may not be the most stylish uniform, but is super comfortable and is provided for me. What more could I ask for?!?

Internet troubles...

I have to apologize for not posting for a while, but our internet has been cutting in and out on us and I am beyond frustrated. Grrrrr!!!

Restoration Hardware

So, as many of you have already experienced, trying to decide what to register for when getting married can sometimes create some conflict when both individuals are somewhat opinionated. Mike and I have been casually looking for registery item such as bedding, bath towels, etc. every time we have gone shopping during the past year. What we found out was that we have troubles agreeing on 2 main things, bedding and dinnerware. We have been arguing over the past year about what kind of bedding we want for our master bedroom, finally coming to a consensus last fall. We found a set at Restoration Hardware and completely fell in love with it. It was such a relief to finally have this item decided upon seeing as it was something we hadn't been able to agree upon prior to this point. Well, now that we are under 6 months we decided that we need to actually start registering for items. We were heartbroken yesterday when we walked into Restoration Hardware and found that the bedding we loved so much had been discontinued. Luckily, we found out that it was on clearance and they had 1 king duvet, 2 king and 2 euro pillow shams still left in the clearance bin. We were very excited that they had just what we needed on clearance even though it will end up sitting in a bag for months and the fact that it cost us $250 (a bargain considering it would have normally cost $650, but more than we had expected to pay that day!). So, I guess we can now check one item off the list of things to register for!

Cold Stone

I am completely addicted to Cold Stone, my newest obsession is birthday cake remix. Mike generally gets peanut butter perfection or chocolate devotion. He definitely isn't as big of a fan as I am, however, usually gets conned into getting some anyhow to make me feel better about my indulgence. I eat more ice cream in a week than most people do during a year, not kidding! I can't help it, I LOOOOVE ice cream. How was I ever vegan?!?

Building a house...

Mike and I are so excited to be building our first house. It is exciting to see the progress made each day, we truly can't wait to see the finished project. As of right now the house should be done the end of March which will give us enough time to furnish it and make it look like our home before the wedding in July. Between finishing nursing school, taking boards, finding and starting a new job, building a house, and planning a wedding I have been extremely busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  2008 will definitely be a year to remember!

Nursing

I am officially a RN! Crazy! It seems like I have been in school forever, which is exactly how it feels for all of my family,  graduating first with a Bachelors in Economics and  now with a Masters of Nursing. It feels a little surreal to finally be out in the real world and actually starting my career. I am so excited to be starting my dream job on Feb. 4 in Fairview Southdale's OR, wish me luck!

Joining blogspot.

I may not be the best writer, but I have decided to give this blogspot thing a try since I am completely horrible at keeping in touch with people. Hopefully it will give you an idea of what has been going on with me, if I haven't talked to you in a while. I will also try and get Mike to write some blogs, seeing as I have titled the blog "Mike and Emily."
